Brief Announcement for 2012 - Changes Coming Soon!

First month into the New Year and so much is already going on!

Huge updates coming soon and just a few quick announcements here.

First major news, which might not seem as exciting since I’ve mentioned it in the last few posts, the new site! I will setting up shop in a new domain that’s better suited, with this change there will also be an update on the site as well (figured I might as well do an entire overhaul). The new site will be aimed to look less like a blog and more of a living site, with all kinds of content everywhere :) it’s going to be a very big change but more on that as it develops.

Next item of BIG news, Abuga is officially ready to go mobile, as a preview anyways. For those who remember Abuga was originally created for my Dream.Build.Play. 2011 entry. Since then it has been redesigned, in just about every way, and has been developed for Android up front to help promote the upcoming title on Xbox360/Windows. The preview is just about ready to go and will be released in the next month, an exact release date will be announced shortly later this week. This preview will also include extra functionality for use with the Zeemote game controllers.

Wrapping this up before it gets too much, let me make a brief announcement for An Indie Game, actually make that two. The first is An Indie Game will undergo one more major update which will include graphical enhancements and big performance boosts among other major changes. After this major update, the game will be frozen for a minimum of 6 months while I get my hands on other projects on the works. Following this major update, development on a HD version will begin. This brings me to my second piece of news, An Indie Game HD! This will be a port of the mobile game with HD graphics and redesigned game mechanics for game pads for a better experience on platforms such as Xbox360 and Windows! An Indie Game HD will be available on Xbox360, Windows, iPad and Honeycomb and up (tablets and Google TV) for the launching platforms.

It’s going to be one hell of a year! ;)

Update - 12/2/11 - Two More Months...

Wow, it's been about two months since I last posted anything! But rest assured, I've been busy. Let me get into some quick news and updates to get you moving a bit.

Yesterday we released a new Livepaper app in the Android Market called, CRT Livepaper! Check it out here. And download it today for only $.99! It'll be well worth it =D

In other news, An Indie Game has gone through a bit of a change. The Museum is now open and you can upgrade Indie's abilities as well as unlock some extra game content. The update has been pushed out to Android already and Windows Phone is currently going through the submission process. iOS is soon to follow within the coming weeks. And on the subject, I would like to announce that An Indie Game will be going HD! What does this mean? Well glad you asked, basically it will be enhanced with better graphics and optimized for tablets, PC and Xbox360. There will also be a brand new game mechanic that I just can't tell you about yet, that will be introduced to the PC and Xbox360 versions. And one last mention here for An Indie Game. Today we released a new version of the game to the Android Market, but the current one has been changed. The current version has been changed to Lite with restricted features while the recently published version is $.99, which features the Museum and all kinds of goodies. Check it out now and download today!

+ Now for the big one! Abuga! Yay! ! We have teamed up with Zeemote to bring our newly redesigned game, Abuga, to the Android platform. And yes, it's going to be a big deal. A proof of concept has been completed and the graphics are being created soon. It will feature one level initially while releasing the next levels as separate updates. This game will also pioneer our new game mechanic, which is actually patent pending, which will be lightly featured in An Indie Game. There will also be more news on this as it unfolds, so stay tuned!

Weekly Update -10/19/11- Almost 2 Months Later

Almost 2 months ago was my last post here and a lot has changed, will change and is changing.

First announcement, Broken Walls is now officially Broken Walls Studios, LLC. and is now a real company! Look out for a new site layout and some design changes to reflect this major update. Work has already begun on the An Indie Game site which you can see here.

Some news on games, there are currently two new games in development and a big update for An Indie Game in the works. The two new games in development are "Up in the Air" and "Abuga: Enter StrangePlace", while they will be built initially on Android both will be built up in parrallel to their iOS and Windows Phone ports so that their releases will be much closer. Not like An Indie Game, released May on Android, June for Windows Phone and hopefully October for iOS. More info on this can be found in our recent post in the Dev Diary here.

For your viewing pleasure! Here is a trailer for An Indie Game on Android and Windows Phone (note: all gameplay shown is actual recorded gameplay):

Enjoy! And look out for a couple of new trailers coming out and one that will show you a sneak peak into Up in the Air.

Weekly Update - 8/25/11 - Honeycomb Livepaper Re-Release

Between last week and this week I've been working, somewhat, hard on the new update for An Indie Game. More info about this update can be found over at the latest Dev Diary post. It is scheduled, and hopefully I'll be able to keep that schedule, for release on September 1st to Android and, depending on the Windows Phone submission process, Windows Phone within a week after.

The site will be going for some maintenance possibly today or during the weekend as I add some new features and needed updates to it.

In bigger news, we'll be re-releasing the current Livepaper series on Android, mainly because of some application signing issues, so we can bring new updates to the app. For the current versions out, they will be renamed to lite while the re-released ones will be considered the full version. So this week I will begin this process with the Honeycomb Livepaper re-release.

And one more thing before I go, there may be an announcement in a few weeks about a new project.

Weekly Update 8/16/11 - An Indie Game & No More Amazon Appstore

Welcome back for this week's updates and news! We'll be covering about a couple weeks worth of news and development here so I'll try to keep it brief and save the details for the Dev Diary.

Big announcement, NO MORE AMAZON APPSTORE ! While it was brief, Broken Walls will no longer develop apps to submit in the Amazon Appstore. After some personal experience and some crazy stories, I decided it's not worth the trouble anymore to bring our apps and games to that market.

An Indie Game will be receiving the HTML5 treatment later on this month. There will be a little demo of the game on its main site, which will be made entirely off of Web GL. More info can be found in Dev Diary 29 along with a lot of development news.

7/29/11 Weekly Update - It's Back

Starting up Weekly Updates, for real this time. Kicking things up with a new Dev Diary post, entry 28, that pretty much has a rundown of what's been going on lately here at Broken Walls.

Abuga is coming back into development, after its rough draft version that was created for the Dream.Build.Play. contest. The plan will be to bring the original idea for the game to life and bring it to the level of a worthy Xbox360 game. On the side we will be slowly porting it over to Android. Using the Zeemote we'll be able to bring the same experience from console to phone.

Ring Leader is going to be picked up off our shelf here and going back into development! I'm still unsure as to whether it will go for a release or not, but it will be updated graphically and so the gameplay will be changed to allow the use of a zeemote. If it works out well then maybe we'll let it go for Android first and in that case it would turn it into the second game for the Monthly Top competition. More info on that within the latest Dev Diary entry

An Indie Game went through two updates within the past week, and is now up to version 1.5.1. And already there is a new update lined up for both Windows Phone and Android. This new update will introduce a new enemy type which will make the game a bit more intense. And in the queue is a possible new track for the game as we try to distance from the Microsoft resources.

That's it for this week, more info can be found in the Dev Diary.

6/7/11 Weekly Update - Dream.Build.Play. and Abuga

So starting this week we'll be posting weekly updates on what's going on here at Broken Walls. The Dev Diary will updated more frequently and some new additions will be included. More news, more games, more development and less walls.

Let's catch up on the big topics at hand, Dream.Build.Play. and Abuga. First, here's a description for the game.

Description:

Bringing back the old-school frustrations of platform games, "Abuga" delivers 10 fun and possibly frustrating levels that vary between short and quick and not so short and quick.

Play as Abuga, who gets teleported to a strange place, while fast asleep wearing a bowl on his head (go figure), by some unknown entity. He awakens, lost and curious, and wonders how he got to such a strange place or if he's still dreaming. Abuga must find his way back while jumping spike traps, charging through enemies using his bowl on his head, sliding and jumping along walls, dodging hazardous objects and much more while some...thing keeps watch. Can Abuga find his way back home?

So be on the look out for Abuga in Dream.Build.Play. and no matter the outcome I plan to enhance the game for a full Xbox360 and PC release.

The contest requires a video of gameplay and overall what the game has to offer, so that will be uploaded to YouTube between today and tomorrow so look out for that or our announcement of it if anything.

Some quick news about An Indie Game, there will be a big update for Android and the Windows Phone port will be submitted for approval next week. More info on An Indie Game and Abuga can be found here.

For those of you who remember, we did submit An Indie Game to the Amazon Appstore and unfortunately it was rejected for supporting Android's In-App Purchasing feature, how lame right? Well no worries, instead of taking this negatively I decided to create an Amazon edition of the game, more details to follow that next week.

So that's it for this weeks update, see you next week for more news.
